“now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; this man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you have come from god [as] a teacher; for no one can do these signs that you do unless god is with him.” Jesus answered and said to him, “truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of god.”” (Joh 3:1-3 NAS95)

It was at this nighttime meeting with Nicodemus that Jesus laid out the fundamental teaching of God’s plan of salvation.  If we truly want to understand what it means to be Christian.  If we truly want to be part of the kingdom of God.  Then this is where we must start, there is no other way.  We simply have to be born again.

Man and religion have clouded the terms that we use to explain and point people to the only hope of salvation.  But if we will return to the purity of the Word of God, and if we put our trust in the only One in whom salvation is found, then we can experience that new birth that Jesus declared unto Nicodemus that night.  Nicodemus had a hard time grasping how this could even be possible, and we may struggle also in our minds as we try to make sense of Jesus words.  But if we will follow Jesus, if we will commit our way unto Him, then we will experience what words cannot adequately express.  We will be able to experience a new birth, born of holy seed, a new life in Christ Jesus, our Lord and our Savior.
